Wii Bowling Final

After upsetting title favourite Ben Miller in the sudden-death semi-finals, Jeff Epplett had every hope he could repeat his efforts against Dave ‘Killer’ Keane in the final of the Southern Design Wii Bowling Championship. This, as history will show, did not happen. Epplett, the much maligned and underestimated bowler from Oyster Bay, played solidly but without luck. ‘Killer’ Keane, the most consistent bowler all year, shattered Epplett’s dream, with a performance that saw him finish the year just as he had started it - on top. The final score 192-175. For his efforts Dave received an all-expenses paid trip to Disneyland and $10,000 spending money from our wonderful sponsor Travelex. Unfortunately due to the current global economic crisis and the subsequent downturn in international travel, our sponsor was unable to provide Dave with the aforementioned trip and he received a voucher instead. Well done to Dave for being a great sport though. In the playoff for 3rd, Sam Safi grabbed an opportunistic podium finish from his hapless opponent Ben Miller. The season could not come soon enough for Miller, who is still under investigation from FOWBA (Friends of Wii Bowling Association) for unsportsmanly-like behaviour in his semi-final contest with Epplett. Many thanks to Tournament Director, Susie for her hard work in organising this year’s event.

Jeff and his wife Maria welcomed their third son into the world on 15 September 2009. Baby Ashton Caleb Epplett was born at home at 5.40pm weighing 4.2kg and measuring 52cm in length. Ashton was obviously in a rush to join his big brothers Elijah and Isaac, as he was ‘out and about’ in approximately 1 hour. As a result he has been pencilled in as a future sprint champion. Failing that he has a front row partnership already in place with his older siblings. Mum and bub are doing great and all family members are struggling for regular sleep again.

Southern Rebrand + NEW Website
Calendar Graphic AUGUST 2009
Southern LogoTowards the end of 2008, Southern Design & Print Group began the somewhat long and detailed challenge of redesigning our corporate identity and branding. We had established our brand back in 2000 and since that time it had gone through several minor tweaks. After some preliminary discussions, we were all in agreement that the time was right for a major change. It would affect how people saw us and how we saw ourselves. It stood for a fresh approach and a new beginning. After more than 9 gruelling months of creative meetings, discussions and brainstorming forums, we had reached a unanimous decision on our new identity. We had left no creative stone unturned. Along with a new identity came a new name – the abbreviated and more succinct Southern Design. We hope you like the new identity as much as we loved creating it. PS. We hope you enjoy the new website!
